September 2007 is Pain Awareness Month
In 2007 the State Pain Initiatives are once again taking leadership roles in activities for Pain Awareness Month. Read below to discover the numerous events and activities that they are participating in or coordinating.
Southern California Cancer Pain Initiative:
- An advocacy campaign urging individuals to support the 2007 National Pain Care Policy Act (HR 2994), including a letter that they can send to support the bill.
- The 16th Pain Resource Nurse Training Course September 5-7, 2007 at City of Hope, Duarte CA
Colorado Pain Consortium:
- A Governor’s proclamation declaring September Pain Awareness Month
Delaware Pain Initiative:
- A Governor’s proclamation declaring September Pain Awareness Month
- Physician Education dinner meeting on September 6th on Pain Management
- Distributing silicone bracelets to healthcare providers that say “Let’s Talk Pain!”
- A broadcast and print media public awareness campaign on pain and pain management
Florida Pain Initiative:
- A Governor’s proclamation declaring September Pain Awareness Month
- Pain Research Day at the University of Florida
- Pain Connections—a meeting of UF and community doctors on pain management
- Several professional and community presentations on pain and pain management
Idaho Pain Coalition:
- A Governor’s proclamation declaring September Pain Awareness Month
- A broadcast and print media public awareness campaign on pain and pain management
Maine Pain Initiative:
Massachusetts Pain Initiative:
- The Diocesan Health Facilities and St. Anne’s Hospital second annual Pain Awareness Symposium on September 26th
- MetroWest Medical Center’s "Pain Fair" days on September 14th and 24th
Missouri Pain Initiative:
- A Governor’s proclamation declaring September Pain Awareness Month
- A letter to the editor campaign and Op-Ed submissions on pain and pain management
- Broadcasting public service announcements on pain
- Power Over Pain community education programs
Nebraska Pain Initiative:
New Hampshire Pain Initiative:
- Releasing a new brochure for consumers to help them learn to advocate for good pain management
- Offering consulting to long term care facilities on challenging pain management cases.
North Carolina Pain Initiative:
South Carolina Pain Initiative:
Texas Pain Initiative:
Virginia Pain Initiative:
- Pain management presentation on September 6th
- Physician Education dinner lecture on September 18th
Washington-Alaska Pain Initiative:
- Rally around Pain, a pain education and advocacy day at the end of September
- A Governor’s proclamation declaring September Pain Awareness Month
- A broadcast and print media public awareness campaign on pain and pain management, including a billboard
